Healthy Footsteps (30 minutes, 1.5 miles).
Gated path with no stiles. A view of the old Raglan Railway Station. Carved wooden sculptures
The walk starts at the Beaufort Arms and follows south along the Chepstow Road, past the school and medical centre and then turns immediately to the east between the medical centre and all-weather sports pitch. It crosses a concrete bridge and emerges onto Station Road. The route follows right along Station Road, bears to the left at the junction for the Golf Club and cuts back across the fields to the left and heads up to the Monmouth Road. There are wooden carvings of fruit on this section of the walk.At the time of writing plans are underway to add additional sculptures to the route. At the Monmouth Road turn left and head back to the Beaufort Arms.
There is a longer version of this walk which follows the busy Chepstow Road out of the village to the sewage works. From the track leading down to the sewage works the path crosses 2 pasture fields and then onto the sports field, following alongside the A40 dual carriageway. This section is mostly used as a dog exercise area. The path crosses the entrance to the Golf Club, through a pony field (this field can be easily by-passed if desired) and back onto Station Road, almost opposite the stile leading back to the Monmouth Road.
